If you have asked around for website quotes in Malaysia, you have probably heard numbers anywhere from a few hundred ringgit to tens of thousands. Both can be fair. The price depends on what the site needs to do, who writes the content and how much of it is custom work.
This guide breaks down typical price ranges in 2026, what drives the cost up or down, and the ongoing fees people often forget to ask about.
Typical website prices in Malaysia
These are rough ranges you will see from freelancers and studios for a small or medium business. Your quote will depend on scope.
- Simple business website (1 to 5 pages): around RM800 to RM2,500. Home, about, services, contact and maybe a gallery.
- Editable business website (6 to 15 pages): around RM1,800 to RM6,000. You can update text and photos yourself, often with a blog.
- Online store: around RM2,500 to RM10,000, depending on the number of products, payment and shipping set-up.
- Custom web app or portal: usually RM10,000 and up, quoted per project.
What actually drives the price
Two websites with the same number of pages can be priced very differently. These are the things that move the number most:
- Number of pages and templates. Ten pages that share one layout cost less than ten pages that are all different.
- Who writes the content. If you supply the text and photos, the price stays lower. Copywriting is a separate skill and is usually charged per page.
- Editing access. A site you can update yourself needs a content system and some training.
- Features. Booking, online payments, member logins, multiple languages and integrations all add work.
- Design approach. A ready-made template is cheaper but looks like other sites. A design built around your brand takes longer.
A good quote lists exactly what is included, so you can compare like with like.
The running costs to budget for
The build is a one-off cost, but a website also has yearly costs. Ask about these before you sign:
- Domain name: roughly RM50 to RM150 a year, depending on whether it is .com, .my or .com.my.
- Hosting: from around RM150 a year for a small site, more for busy stores.
- Business email: sometimes bundled with hosting, sometimes charged per mailbox.
- Maintenance: updates, backups and security checks, often RM50 to RM300 a month.
- Payment gateway fees: for online stores, a small charge per transaction.
Questions to ask before you pay a deposit
A low quote is not a good deal if the site never launches or you cannot change it later. Ask:
- How many pages and revisions are included?
- Who owns the website, domain and content after launch?
- How long will it take, and when does the clock start?
- Is there a fix period after launch if something breaks?
- What will it cost to make changes later?

- Seed, RM999: a 5-page website, live in 3 working days.
- Sprout, RM1,899: up to 6 pages you can edit yourself, with a blog, plus domain, hosting and email for the first year.
- Bloom, RM2,899: up to 15 pages with copywriting included.
- Harvest Lite, RM2,499: an online store with cart, checkout and online payment.
The bottom line
For most small businesses in Malaysia, a solid website costs between RM1,000 and RM3,000 up front, plus a few hundred ringgit a year to keep it online. Spend more when you need features that bring in sales, such as a store or bookings, and less when you just need to look credible and be easy to contact.
